The route does a clockwise loop around Fredericksburg, mostly on lightly traveled roads, and passes near the "town" of Luckenbach with a side trip to the "bat tunnel" on Old No. 9 road. Riders may optionally stop at Alamo Springs Cafe (Wed-Sun) for a mid-ride lunch or to top off water bottles.
