This is route #1 of 4 of the Badger-Gopher-Hawkeye Ramble Series/Collection. A reversible point-to-point mixed terrain route from La Crosse, WI to Fountain, MN via the Root River Trail and paved roads; 90% of the route is on the Root River Trail. This route covers both WI and MN for the American Explorer award and crosses the Mississippi River after leaving La Crosse; also passes by the International Owl Center in Houston, MN.
